In the Strategic Plan 2016-18, CVI committed to sending a State Team to the ACF National Championships in 2017. CVI are pleased to announce that Victoria are taking a State Team covering all sections to the 2017 Nationals to be hosted in Sydney, New South Wales.
Through an open application process, jointly facilitated by the VCCA and CVI, 25 applications were received for coaching positions across all sections. CVI and VCCA would like to thank all those coaches who applied. Their support of the process and of the national campaign is appreciated.
The coaching leadership for the 2017 ACF Nationals campaign are:

Kerie Summers and Danielle Kenner will jointly lead the Seniors campaign. Kerie currently coaches the senior section at Emmanuel Calisthenics, having previously coached at Leawarra Calisthenics Club and assisted at Jeaden Calisthenics College. Danielle is an experienced solo coach and has coached Seniors at Leawarra and Intermediates at Regent Calisthenics College. Kerie said, “I aspire to make the state team journey for every participant a special one.” Danielle said, “I’m extremely excited to be a part of the 2017 Victorian State Team. I can’t wait to work with my co-coach Kerie Summers, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with the amazingly talented Victorian Seniors.”
The Intermediates campaign will be led by Ella Freeman and Rhiannon Thompson. Ella currently coaches the Intermediate section at Chadstone Calisthenics Club and previously Sub-Juniors and Juniors at Carwen Calisthenics. Ella said, I'm extremely excited to be working with the State Team Intermediates in 2017. I undertook this journey as an athlete many times and can't wait to experience it as a coach.” Rhiannon, who currently coaches Seniors at Chelsea Calisthenics Club said, ‘I am thrilled to be the co-coach for Intermediates. It has always been my aspiration to be involved in state team and I am excited to be able to share this experience with Ella! I’m very passionate about where Calisthenics has come from and where it is today. I'm also very excited about working with high calibre state team competitors. We are looking to create a challenging, fun, creative and rewarding experience for everyone wanting to be involved in Victoria’s Intermediates.”
Stefanie Bond and Kylee German will lead the Juniors campaign. Stefanie and Kylee both coach at Robynmore Calisthenics College in the Junior and Sub Junior sections respectively, winning the Sub Junior team section at Nationals in 2015. Stefanie said, “We hope to inspire, and be inspired by a passionate young group of individuals willing to be part of State Team and create a special experience for all involved. Kylee said, “I am very excited, along with my co-coach, Stefanie, to be named Victorian State Team Juniors coach for 2017. We look forward to creating a wonderful experience for both pupils and families from all over Victoria and are excited to see everyone at the workshops and auditions later this year.”
The Sub Juniors will be led by Deborah Godsell who is currently the Principal Coach Club Mentor for Newport Calisthenic Club, having spent most her calisthenic career at championship level in Avonde Calisthenics College. She has previously coached at Nationals in 1994, 1995 and 2002. Deborah said “I enjoy exploring my own choreography skills and working with a team to produce exciting new items while challenging competitors within their capabilities.

Congratulations to Kerie, Danielle, Ella, Rhiannon, Stefanie, Kylee and Deborah on their appointments. We look forward to your new ideas in choreography and developing a special experience for elite participants in Victoria to represent their state.”
Director of VCCA, Keira Cowell said, “Congratulations to our colleagues who have been appointed to the 2017 ACF Nationals Coaching team for Victoria. The blend of experience and new talent is exciting and we look forward to seeing a new chapter in State Team participation for all our Victorian representatives.”
Assistant and 2nd Assistant coaching positions are currently being recruited for and the coaching leaders for each section will be involved in their selection. We look forward to presenting the complete coaching teams at the CVI State Championships, Championship Senior Division, on Sunday 25 September 2016.
State Team Manager
CVI are delighted to announce that Portia Branton has been appointed to the position of State Team Manager for the 2017 Nationals Campaign. Portia is the previous Elite Performance Team Manager for 2016 and a previous State Team Manager in 2015. Portia said, “I am passionate about calisthenics and supporting its members to experience an once in a lifetime opportunity to compete at a national level.” Congratulations to Portia on her appointment.
