This seminar will be presented online by industry professional - Carly Harrison.
Carly holds a doctorate degree, is a Rehabilitation Counsellor and trained Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) practitioner.
Carly has been involved with Avonde Calisthenics college since she was 3, performing until 2020. She has coached solos, the Avonde Juniors team for a decade, was the assistant coach of the Victorian State Team Inters team in 2013 and co-coached the Avonde Seniors team in 2022 and this year is an Assistant Coach with the Avonde Seniors. Carly is employed as a Branch Manager of an Occupational Rehabilitation provider, assisting people with physical and psychological injury in their recovery and return to work. Carly has explored pain, injury, wellness, mindfulness and career transition in dance and ballet throughout her academic studies and completed her PhD research with the Australian Ballet in 2021.
Carly is committed to enhancing the performance quality and experience in Calisthenics, through education, practical strategies and empowerment.

Session overview:
This workshop will include well-being strategies to support our coaches entering into the team competition season. It will also include practical tips and strategies relating to competition preparation, enhanced performances and holistic mental health & wellbeing for participants.
Participants will gain an understanding of -
- Holistic mental health and wellbeing - exploring the impacts of burnout and developing self-care strategies for coaches.
- Competition preparation - tips and tricks including the importance of sleep, muscle relaxation strategies, benefits of visualisation for performance preparation.

Strategies for enhanced performance quality and experience on stage.

How to recognise and respond to situations where nerves and performance anxiety may be present.

Post competition recovery.
