A Legacy of Leadership: The Brenda Green Perpetual Trophy
The Brenda Green Perpetual Trophy for the Senior Calisthenics Open Section stands as a tribute to Brenda Green’s extraordinary impact on the sport of calisthenics. With a career spanning several decades, Brenda’s contributions as a competitor, coach, adjudicator, and administrator have shaped the sport in Australia.

Brenda's journey began at age four when she started calisthenics at South West Brunswick Uniting Church, before moving to St Thomas in Moonee Ponds, where she trained under Miss Vera Hopton. She later became involved with Clifton Calisthenics College before transitioning to the VCTA (now VCCA) at age 16. Her coaching career began at Balmoral Methodist Church in Pascoe Vale South, where she eventually developed and coached a senior team that traveled to the Royal South Street Eisteddfod (RSSS).

In 1966, Brenda’s career as an adjudicator began with the Victorian Calisthenics Adjudicators panel. Her vast experience saw her adjudicate at the National Championships across all states and territories, as well as at the Royal South Street Eisteddfod in every age group, including the prestigious Senior Most Graceful Girl competition. Brenda’s influence on calisthenics competition and adjudication has been far-reaching, both in Australia and internationally.

Brenda has also served on the ASCA Victorian Branch Committee for over 30 years, including five years as President. Her efforts in calisthenics administration included establishing the Adjudicators Advisory Board for the Australian Calisthenics Federation (ACF) and representing the sport at Australian Sports Commission forums. Brenda’s dedication to the structure and development of the sport was pivotal.

Brenda’s tireless efforts have earned her many accolades, including the Eunice Gill Award for service to female sport from Sport Industry Australia, the Australian Sports Commission’s Inaugural National Official of the Year award, and Victorian Official of the Year. Additionally, she has received Life Memberships from ACF, CVI, and the ASCA Victorian Branch.

Beyond her administrative and officiating roles, Brenda has dedicated her time to educating future generations of calisthenics leaders. She has conducted seminars for coaches and adjudicators across Melbourne, country centers, and interstate. As a Pupil Skills Examiner from Test 1 to Gold Medal, Brenda’s influence extends well beyond the competitive realm, making her an irreplaceable figure in the calisthenics community.
