VERA. E HOPTON MEMORIAL TROPHY
Awarded to the winner of the 16 years Graceful Open section.  

This trophy is in memory of a very special lady Miss Vera Hopton, the most influential person in Calisthenics in the twentieth century. She began around 1905 as the youngest pupil of the Westley Central Mission Girls’ Physical Culture class and from there devoted herself to calisthenics as a pupil, performer, teacher, and creator of public presentations. She became a school teacher in 1919 and later taught blind and deaf children. With her exceptional skills, she started the Clifton Calisthenic College in 1925. In 1973 she was awarded the British Empire Medal for her contribution to calisthenics and the community in general. 

ENID FELTHAM MEMORIAL TROPHY
Awarded to the winner of the 17 years Graceful Open section.

This trophy has been established to recognise the valuable contribution to calisthenics made by Enid Feltham. Mrs Feltham was a foundation member of the VCTA (now VCCA) and was a member for over 60 years. Mrs Feltham began calisthenics with the Excelsior College in 1925 and in 1939 she established the Regent Calisthenics College. She continued coaching until the age of 75 when she closed the College in 1997. Her daughter Diane Synnott and her granddaughter Brooke Synnott re-opened Regent in 2009. Mrs Feltham was responsible for the introduction of several initiatives which have advanced calisthenics. Her Calisthenic Handbook was one of these and another was the establishment of the first VCTA competitions which has since become the VCCA Coaches Awards. Many prominent adjudicators and coaches were trained by Mrs Feltham and this Memorial Trophy in her name is a wonderful way of acknowledging her achievements. 

BRENDA GREEN PERPETUAL TROPHY
 Awarded to the winner of the Senior Calisthenic Open section.

Brenda Green was first introduced to calisthenics at South West Brunswick Uniting Church at the age of 4 and then transferred to St Thomas’ in Moonee Ponds, where she was taught by Miss Vera Hopton. Brenda remained at Clifton Calisthenic College until the age of 16 years. When Brenda was 16, she joined the VCTA, now VCCA, and began coaching at Balmoral Methodist Church Pascoe Vale South. Teaching all age groups as a Bosworth College Teacher under supervision of Miss Hopton, Brenda started coaching a Senior team that travelled to RSSS. Brenda coached for 8 Years and established her own class. Brenda coached for another 8 years before retiring. Brenda began adjudicating in 1966 as a member of the Victorian Calisthenic Adjudicators’ Panel. Brenda was a member of the ASCA Victorian Branch Committee for over 30 years, was President for five years, Treasurer and Distance Education Coordinator. Brenda has adjudicated at the National Championships in every state and territory, Royal South Street in all age groups including Senior Most Graceful Girl Competition as well as teams and solos in metropolitan, country and interstate competitions. Brenda established the Adjudicators’ Advisory Board for the ACF and was coordinator for 12 years. She represented Calisthenics as a delegate to the Australian Sports Commission attending many Officiating forums. She presented a paper on “Training of Adjudicators for Calisthenics – A Unique Australian Sport” at the National Coaching/Officiating Conference in Brisbane. Brenda was presented with the Eunice Gill Award by Sport Industry Australia for service to female sport, the inaugural National Official of the Year by the Australian Sports Commission, the Victorian Official of the Year and Life Memberships of ACF, CVI and ASCA – Victorian Branch. Brenda has conducted many seminars for coaches in Melbourne, country centres and interstate and has been a Pupil Skills examiner from Test 1 to Gold Medal.
