Honouring a Lifetime of Service: The Gwenda Lucas Trophy
Calisthenics Victoria is proud to announce the naming of the 18 Years Graceful Open trophy in honour of one of the sport’s most dedicated and respected contributors—Gwenda Lucas.
The event itself has been established within the competition calendar to showcase the poise, artistry and maturity of Calisthenics performers aged 18 and under.
Few have given more to the sport than Gwenda. Over many decades, she has contributed tirelessly as a competitor, coach, administrator and committee chair at Club, State and National levels. Her volunteer work often equalled the hours of a full-time job, driven purely by her deep love for Calisthenics and commitment to its growth.
Gwenda’s influence is woven through every layer of the Calisthenics community. She is a Life Member of Regent Calisthenics College, the Victorian Calisthenics Coaches Association, Calisthenics Victoria, and the Australian Calisthenics Federation. Renowned for her vast knowledge and remarkable memory, she became a trusted source of wisdom and support—earning her the affectionate title of the person everyone turned to with, “Ask Gwenda!”
Beyond her deep expertise, Gwenda is celebrated for her warmth, integrity and tireless efforts to improve systems and experiences for everyone involved in the sport. She is respected and admired across generations of Calisthenics families, and the naming of this trophy stands as a symbol of that respect.
The Gwenda Lucas Trophy will now be awarded annually to the winner of the 18 Years Graceful Open section. It serves as a lasting tribute to a woman whose legacy continues to inspire and whose contributions have helped shape the Calisthenics community into what it is today.
